seak into a Yanni concert
A few years back, I met up with some old high school friends on the
Madison River, near Quake Lake. After an evening of fishing near
the Raynold's Pass Bridge (I caught a fat 18 inch rainbow, but
Anthony found the honeyhole and caught a slew of them) we retired
to the campfire and destroyed a bottle of whisky and a case of
beer and reminisced about our misspent youth. Anthony and Dean
were guitarists, who played in bands around the Minneapolis area
back in the 80's, when, for a while, the Twin Cities was the
center of the musical world. They were telling some story in
which Yanni played some part. "Yanni?" I said, "The Yanni?"
And it was. It seems Yanni got his start playing keyboards
for a hard rock band called Chameleon, who, for all I know,
are still playing bars in the Cities. He cultivates an image
as Mr. Peace and Serenity now, but back then he was apparently
a whiny little prick. Of course, sleeping with Linda Evans
might make a guy's outlook on life a little sunnier.
Kevin
who bets that nobody believed I could connect flyfishing,
drinking, and Yanni in the same post.
