For what it's worth, I have had polymer knots come apart on at least three
occasions using P-Pro 15lb and 20lb line. Once with a very large LM, and
twice during casting. I ONLY use the uni-knot now configured with two passes
through the eye and 8 loops. This particular knot has never failed.
P-Pro recommends two passes through the eye with a polymer knot. I had only
passed the line through once when I experienced the failures. Might have
just been my laziness.

Do you know if your line is breaking at the knot or someplace else? You
should definitely be using a palomar knot for these types of lines. I
have
seen at least with Fireline and PowerPro that if the line gets knicked, it
can break. That is one reason I prefer PowerPro over Fireline in that
Fireline gets so frayed looking that it is hard to tell if it is knicked.
PowerPro seems to take much longer to look that way even though they are
essentially the same material. I have not had experience yet with Stren,
but plan to try it out sometime this year.

I thought my search for the "vonderline" was over. I put some Stren on
and
it performed very well. ....Until yesterday when the specter of ALL
prior
superlines came back.
I usually cast a long way with a very strong "snap" of my wrist. It is
necessary here on the TX Gulf coast and beside, I like it! Yesterday, I
SNAPPED a spinnerbait right off of the line.
Over the years, I've lost more lures during casting with ANY superline
then
I ever lost with any mono. I know that mono gives me some stretch, so my
big
SNAP cast (when I get a backlash) doesn't always break off.
Am I the only guy with this complaint about Superlines? I'm using 30 lb
with
8 lb diameter. I usually use ten pound mono???
Thanks ,
