I purchased a northern pin oak about two years ago. It was about 8 o r9 feet
tall and has been doing well.

This year I put some lillies or irises - don't know exactly what but they
are low maintenance around the tree and have been hitting the flowers with
miracle grow - that may be the problem.

The tree has shot up like a rocket - 'bout two feet this spring and the top
most limbs, especially the top trunk that is headed for the sky has so many
leaves and is so thin and is so long that it is bent over near to breaking.
Especially when it rains and the leaves are burdened by the weight of the
rain drops.

I'm wondering if I should get my step ladder out and cut every other leaf in
order to relieve the weight.

I know this is waaay off topic but I'm not really a member of any tree
groups. Heck I've never even hugged a tree since the last time I saw a
bear...

My suggestion: Take a photo and send it to the MiracleGro people. Maybe
they'll pay you for a testimonial. :-)
