Microsoft is the perfect counter example to the idea

I bought a thousand dollars worth of Transmeta when
they first openned up...watched it double in less than
a week, sold off half, and now hold $500 worth of not much.

They do have a good idea--sort of the hardware equivalent
of the Java programming language. Anything bad for Microsoft is good for
everbody else....
