LANETT, Ala. - Anglers
haven't competitively fished a BASS event on West Point Lake since
1987. Today, that 18-year hiatus finally comes to an end.
At sunrise, 400 anglers will kick off the Bassmaster Southern Open
series on the 25,900-acre Chattahoochee River reservoir. At stake is a
$53,000 first-place payout in the pro division and a top prize of
$25,000 in the amateur division.
Many anglers expect good fish to be few and far between.
