The guy at MRFC in Ennis writes excellent reports.
I'm pretty sure the river's been right around 1200 cfs whenever I've
been there and it's apprx 2600 now. There's three of us coming with
two pickups and one boat and I'm trying to talk Bevin into bringing a
second boat...
Thanks Bruce. I'm having the same problem as Allen getting to the site.
Its all his fault so he'll be sleeping with the crabs (hey, its the
Chesapeake) by Sunday night.
As someone who floats the Madison, what flies do you recommend for time in a
drift boat in mid July? I'm tying some of my "Frank's Fighting Craw,"
Barr's "Slump Buster" (both tan and olive) and "Autumn Splendor." Got some
golden stone nymphs in size 8, black stones in 8 and 4, and a **** load of
foam bugs. I'll have PMDs, caddis (including Tom Littleton's fabled Coyote
Ugly), wets, nymphs, and finally, a 120 dollar overweight charge from the
friggen airlines.
I can do a lot from shore, but as someone who's done little time in a drift
boat (two whole days), I'm looking for some ideas.
