hey, i know exactly what you mean. it happened to me only once, when my
wife (#2) and i returned from a late movie only a few days after we had
remodeled our downstairs, to find everything that wasn't bolted down, gone.

it was like seeing yourself on tv when you didn't know you were being
filmed; a combination of mystery and fear.


It's a very, very weird feeling -- like time is suspended and you're
separated from reality. Those MFers not only took my stereo, but also
the 45 auto in my dresser and all my change. The police were very
understanding about the handgun -- it was a notorious neighborhood. I
was a grad student at the time, so I didn't have anything else of value.
Monetary value, that is.
