While Carp is sometimes used in Gefilte Fish, it is usually a mixture of

Absolutely correct if you are talking about comercially produced and
marketed jared
"Gefilte Fish" you see in your local supermarket. But not if you are talking
about old fashioned completely home made from scratch. BTW, that "pike"
often seen on the label is actually walleye.
