Just noticed a post about carp, and was reminded of the large scales
on
carp.
What other fish have large scales, and any larger than carp scales?
The South American Piracuru (or Arapaima) has the largest scales of any
freshwater fish.

I believe what this article is stating about this Arapaima species is
that it is the largest freshwater fish with scales; not that it has the
largest scales of any freshwater fish. There are larger freshwater fish
such as a couple catfish and a couple sturgeon species, but they don't
have scales.
If I remember correctly Tarpon have the largest scales, but I could be
wrong about that.
It's both the largest scaled freshwater fish and has the largest scales of
any freshwater fish.
The Tarpon while it may or may not have larger scales is a sal****er fish
although it does inhabit
brackish and even fresh waters.
You could be right, but how about sharing the source of this
information. You state it without any qualifiers, so I assume you have
an authoritative source. I remain a skeptic. On another note the O.P.
was asking about the fish with the largest scales and not the freshwater
fish with the largest scales.
