We had a similar problem with ours, but we managed to get over it with the
help of a dummy launcher and a local river. She's only 2 years old though,
I'm not sure if it would work with a 6 year old!

Yes my Labrador is lovely (he's 6 years old now) - pity that he doesn't
like to swim :-(

He loves water but once he can't feel the bottom he gets out of it. !!
