I have never heard of any caught from shore but that doesn't mean it
can't happen. I did read about some babies caught from a 1000' fishing
pier.

Before Ivan took out the Ala. State pier, (825 feet) huge Kings were
caught off of it all season long, every season, they were caught free
lining live bait, with blue runners (hard tails) being the best bait,
with L Y's being the number two choice.

Free lining is done with a small float or just the line,, the bait
hooked in the tail and allowed to swim freely "out",, a number 4 treble
hook, about 18 inches of steel single strand (16 to 27 lb test) for a leader

Thats how they do it in NC. I saw a kid catch a 30 pounder 2 weeks ago.
I was plugging for Spanish.
