Don't tie on the leader, just fish the braid, long distance hooksets won't
be a problem, the fish don't care if you have a leader or not

Lose the leader and tie the braid directly to the hook. Put a drop of
super glue on the knot to keep the braid from sliding around, finding the
end of wire and working its way out of there at an inopportune moment.
