I have been getting some decent fish with the jig and craw fishing deep, but
I have gone back to an oldie but goodie, the black berkely bungee worm.
Haven't fished them in a while and I have caught about a dozen bass in the
past few days in the 2-4 lb range. Sometimes it pays to dig in the box again

Good account, and good tip, Ronnie. I'll try it this weekend at Lake
Hartwell, over on the GA/SC border.

Once, years ago, I devoted an entire late summer day to fishing nothing
but
jig-n-pig on a rocky point where I normally fished T-rigged worms. Folks
around me were catching bass, but I remained fishless for an hour or two.
I
was determined to develop my feel for the lure, trying to learn to fish it
in a way that kept it from hanging up in the riprap and boulders and
rocks,
while sensing the bottom composition.

About mid-day, my persistance paid off, and I caught three bass in the
four
pound range. I probably broke off five or six jigs that got hung up in the
rocks, and I broke a pole when I set the hook on what I hoped would be a
bass but turned out to be the earth instead. But since that day I've got a
lot more confidence in that lures ability to produce good quality fish, if
not always quantities.
