In 1959 my family had just moved into an old house that had the
convenience of a two holer a few yards from the house. My dad had dug a
hole for a cess pool in the hopes of even more convenience. When the
quake hit (it was during the night) it somehow opened the chicken coop
door and the next morning all our chickens were in the bottom of the
hole. I remember being pretty amused by it.
