Just bought a Lowrance H20. What I'm wanting feedback on is the map
chips. Really concentrating on the hot maps chips by navionics.
Question is do I spend the extra 60 bucks on the premium or is the
classic version good enough detail? Also if anyone has any good
knowledge on hunting GPSs, would love to talk to you outside the
group. Thanks.

I am not sure about the handheld or the classic chip. I just purchased
the Premium HotMap for my Humminbird Matrix97 a few weeks ago. It has
great details. I spent about two hours one day marking a ledge dropoff on
the river channel so I could troll a 15 foot drop. Later after
purchasing the HotMaps premium chip, I stuck the chip in and went to the
same spot and all I had to do was set my depth color range to 15 feet,
and it showed the ledge drop right along with the route I had spent two
hours marking. I have the Garmin Etrex handheld, and I hardly ever carry
it with me fishing in my boat anymore. I guess to sum it all up, the
reason I went ahead and purchased the Premium chip is, If I was going to
spend this kind of money for my GPS equipment and a chip, skimping on
$60.00 did not make sense. If I was going, I might as well go all the
way.
