Hi Neil,

My other hobby is photography so been into that one. The smaller tripods are
too small and the others are too large. There are middle sized ones but they
are far too expensive and not often in the old boot sales that I have seen.
There is also the question of fitting the actual rod rest on the top as you
end up needing an adapter to take the rod rest head thread and the tripod
threaded spigot.

A good idea though.

Get to a car boot/ jumble sale et al. Get an old photographers floodlight
stand, dispose of the light and modify the tripod stand to suit your
equipment.
