The figure eight knot is sometimes used to tie on a hook/lure when
using coated metal leader. I wouldn't trust it to hold in mono. There
are much better knots that are just as easy to tie. For example; the
Perfection Loop or the Spider Hitch for heavier use,,,just to name
two.
