I do the same thing, get the cheapest stuff I can find. However, I do have
a tip if you use the metal tubes.

If you are going to put it in your pocket, make certain that you don't have
anything that could possibly be sharp. It will puncture the tube and it's
possible to glue your hand in your pocket. However, if you're going to
attempt this, make certain that your pocket has a lot of pocket lint, it
will allow you to fish with both hands afterwards, but with a lot less
feel.......
