Bob, was that a sandbar that I am familiar with? When me and my friend
Ron were fishing the river alot, he called me "Sandbar Johnny"!
Just above Cabin Lake coming back down river from Island Lake. Last
year
I was able to run all the way to Island from Fisher's hugging the
Arizona
Shore. At Cabin I was able to tuck in against the tulies and make the
run, but the channel filled in this spring. You have to cut over to
the
Ca shore at that point and cut back to the Az shore to finish the run.
Worse I knew better and even had the bar
marked on my GPS. I just brain farted and went the wrong way around
it.
Come to think of it... last year I was running the Baker Tunnel hull.
I
could lift the motor up on it and run in about 8 inches of water in a
pinch over sand punching the skeg through. Can't do that with the new
Bass Cat. I need a full ten to twelve inches depending on the load.

That is when it is nice to have a 3/16 thick aluminum hull jetdrive
boat.
Still a pain to get off the bars.
There are days when I wish I had bought that Tracker PT185 Jet, but when I
am running 65+ back down the river with a livewell full of fish... Also,
jets don't fair so well when you get into those backwater lakes that are
all
choked full of grass.

Actually, I wouldn't trade the Bass Cat for much of anything except a newer
Bass Cat. LOL.
