I have a Garmin 240 on my universal transducer in my Minn Kota Maxxum
trolling motor with a Garmin 168 on the console. They work just fine.

I have an old Fish ID portable on the front of my other boat , and it does
pretty good, but identifies anything not on the bottom as fish.
