Default horrible experience with mercury outboard - advice needed!

Mercury has district reps that you can get a hold of thru the factory, it's
their job to take care of the customer. The dealer should have called them
from the get go if a motor trashed on the first outing, as a quality control
check if nothing else, so they could get the engine back to the factory to
see what was up.
