Well, there you have it, my argument in a nutshell.
Bass fishing is no more a "physical activity" than
tossing darts, or bowling balls and engaging in bass
fishing competitively is a very recent phenomenon.

Fishing IS a sport. Baseball, football et al are athletic competitions.
Fishing was called a sport long before the term was applied to games
like baseball and football.
