Default Carp

Speaking of carp:

The Big Horn river in Montana is famous for a pretty good tail water
trout fishery.
Few trout fishermen ply the waters downstream of the Big Horn access
above
the St. Xavier bridge. Almost non below the Two Leggins access.

From Hardin on down to its confluence with the Yellowstone River takes

about
three days floating and two nights camping in a canoe, maybe another
day or two
in a driftboat. There aren't many trout that far down the river, but
there are thousands
of carp. Millions. Each log along the bank seems to trap a foot or two
of
sudsy foam and 30-50 carp.

They're not easy to catch on a fly rod. But will take a giant dry fly
and/or a
Woolly bugger. A 12-15lb carp will tow a kayak back upstream. It's a
blast.
Channel catfish down there will hit streamers too. Pork rind rigged
like a plastic
worm (with two hooks) can be flung with a fly rod, and the Channel Cats
really
like that.
