Default Follow up on new airline regs

Checked with my home owners insurance company this morning and found out I
can add sporting equipment to my current policy for 65 cents per thousand. A
deductible of 25 dollars will apply. This is for 1 year coverage. May go
this route and just check the rods through carrying a 5 piece on for backup.

Thanks to all who responded.

I'm more concerned that my stuff doesn't get to my trip destination than
it getting totally lost. It's uncommon for luggage to get "totally" lost
but it is relatively common that luggage gets delayed. Like in Jon's
example, that delay can ruin your trip.

When I went to Penns, my rods didn't arrive on the plane with me. Mike
M. graciously loaned me a rod. To the airlines credit, my rod arrived
the next day and the airline delivered it to me by courier to a place
about 50? miles from the airport.
