I have the same concerns, as I have read horror stories on the internet
about luggage (fly-fishing equipment) mistreated, lost, or stolen by the
airline handlers. In my case, I'll have to transfer planes which adds
another twist.
Jim told me last year the airlines let him carry on the fishpond rod bag
