Is it possible to adjust a console mounted fuel gauge for greater
accuracy? My tank is an 18 gallon plastic, builtin, on 17 ft. Monark
Pro 170 with a 50 hp Mercury 2-stroke.
It reads "Empty" with 14 or 15 gallons left in the tank!!

I'd like to avoid disassembling the tank to get to the internal float
or sensor because its well beneath the rear deck. I'm hoping there's
a simple external calibration adjuster of some sort....

I don't have this boat, but I have had the problem. Unfortunately, you're
going to need a new sending unit, in all likelihood. Luckily, mine was in a
G3 Pro 175, and the rear of the fuel tank is accessible through the back
hatch (where the batts and bilge pump are) so it was an easy fix.

I too tried to find an easier fix (since I don't like messing with gassy
sending units at all) and even tried replacing the gauge first, but it
didn't function properly until I replaced the whole float/sending unit back
in the tank.
