Default Fishing in central KY

I just got a job offer to run a piano shop in Danville KY. Anyone familiar
with the area? I understand there's a lake Herrington that is some 35 miles
long. Anybody out there ever fished it? I'm really only partially
interested in living there, but if the fishing is really good I might be
more inclined.

I sure am. Fished it a many of times. I directed a division for USA
BASSIN there last year. I handed it down to someone else, to focus on
my favorite lake around here Guist Creek.

Anyway, Herrington Lake is for some people the best lake around. While
others call it the dead sea. This is a tough lake to fish. But, it has
a big population of LM and KY Bass.

It is a deep clear lake, with stained creek arms. Lots of steer rock
cliffs, not much cover on the main lake. Good cover in the creeks to
fish. The lake was built over a flooded town. When the water is real
low, you can see the church steeple sticking out of the water. Not sure
of the deepest place, but it's over 300 feet deep. It is very unsafe
after a lot of rain, due to all the flooting timber, ect. This lake
offers good night fishing.
Fishing hasn't been as good there in the last couple of years.

Now, I'm not a big fan of this lake. I perfer fishing Guist Creek,
Cumberland, Dale Hollow, and others. Cumberland and Dale Hollow (one of
the top 10 lakes in the US for Smallies) are not to far from Danville.
You can checkout more info at fishin.com for reports and information on
all lakes.

Hope this helps. If ya move down here, check our tournament trail out.
