Interesting. If Blanchard actually said that, I'd wonder if it isn't
two pellets (5 mm would be about 2 7 1/2s).

And 5mm wouldn't be buckshot, it'd be more like a BB or BBB...I figured
a old Daisy hand such as yerself would know that...have you ever even
seen a Sheridan Blue/Silver Streak?

Looks like BB = 4.57 mm; BBB = 4.83 mm; T = 5.08 mm I think the BBB and T
are pretty much a steel shot designation- don't know about bismuth,
hevi-shot, hevi-steel, etc. Just a quick look at Federal, Remington, and
Winchester ammunition- I couldn't find that they manufacture anything for a
28 gauge bigger than #6 (2.77 mm); and no steel loads for a 28. Also, I
think for quail no one uses shot heavier than #6 do they?

If I caught someone with steel shot 28 ga. loads in the general vicinity
of any of my guns, we'd shortly have a definite answer to the question,
"hey, which one of them sumbitches you think's gonna win that fight?"

As to what "they" might use, I have no idea, but I'd say 7 1/2 is about
right as a general rule, giving humane killing without blasting the bird
into, um, quailburger, and with 8-9 or 6 used depending on the birds,
the feathering, the shooter, etc., but yeah, 6's are about as large as
_I'd_ go.

Maybe the doctor doesn't know his mm from his elbows.

And just because someone said the doctor said whatever doesn't mean
that the doctor actually did say whatever.
