Is there any particular significance to the date? The reason I ask is
that in my part of the world it is uncommon to find people jumping into
lakes in the winter.......except on January first.....in some places,
where it is billed as the annual "polar bear plunge" (or some varitation
on that theme)*.....or (even more rarely) after sauna.

No the just set it because it's cold about that time round these parts.
Besides, this ain't about anything seasonal, really, it's just to raise
money for Special Olympics. I imagine that they want folks to get over
X-Mas and the holidays before they schedule the Plunge and do it before
April 15th.

Whatsmore, far as I know, the Summer Polar Plunge never caught on, go
figure?

There were many there videoin' the event! I should have a copy in my grubby
little hands in a short time.

I was even interviewed for MTN (Mountain Televison Network, I think that's
right?), which should air in the morn!
