Jack,
My thought is, emotions are different between different people. Jack,
when your child asked that question about getting in trouble for acting
like that, you were right there to express your feelings towards your
child, and I guarantee your child looks up to you more than anyone else
in this world. Therefore you gave him a life experience and expressed
how you would have handled it without your child ever having to step
into a situation like that.
Everyone seems to agree everything is on the line in these tournaments,
and you can feel everything slipping away in an instance you have the
right to get emotional. No, I would not have reacted the same way, but
who am I to say what is the right way to act. B.A.S.S doesn't give
these guys a paycheck, on the flip side, these guys don't have to fish
B.A.S.S tournaments, the big problem I have with it , it is a gray area
"sportsmanship", and I don't feel they are consistent. Preston clark
lost a fish and said , and I quote..."Dammit!,....damn!". Harmless if
you ask me, but it wasn't even beeped out. Or Jim Bitter sitting there
, and every other word out of his mouth has to be beeped out , yet he
wasn't disqualified, matter of fact they went back to that tape in order
to show everyone his melt down!(different tourney) B.A.S.S puts Ike on
Camera in hopes he has a melt down, then when he does, they take every
chance to grill him. It doesn't matter if people like him or not,
B.A.S.S is now spun just like every other media outlet, instead of just
showing it how it is.

I respectfully disagree with your opinion on Ike's
diqualification. I think BASS did the right thing. His attitude was too
far over the top and he's going to be lucky if he's not brought up on
federal charges for desicration of the American flag (It was attached
to the light pole that he destroyed and threw in the lake). This is the
CLASSIC and Ike is a PROFESSIONAL, act like one. It was his mistake and
he needs to learn a leason from it. My 7 year old son was watching this
display and he told me that he gets in trouble for acting like that,
why isn't Ike? I loved Denny Brauers comments..........
On the other hand, I do agree that ESPN has screwed up BASS. I have
fished the BASS Opens and FLW Everstart tournaments and FLW is by far a
classier outfit.
My opinion, milage may
vary.

This won't be a long post, I just want to comment on how pathetic
B.A.S.S has become. For some reason now they enforce some
"Sportsmanship" rules! What about Swindell driving up in his boat and
yelling at someone that he thinks is on a spot he found?????? How is
that any better than what Iaconnelli did yesterday? This is why my
dream of fishing professionally for B.A.S.S is gone. It isn't even the
same as it was 3 years ago. Since ESPN bought it, it has gone even
further down hill than when Scott sold it. I didn't think so at first,
I thought big money would finally put this sport into the highlight, and
it did that, but in a Soap Opera kind of way. Iaconnelli is the bad
guy, Swindell is the funny guy, Brauer is the old guy, Van Dam is the
Wiz kid, Martens the almost guy, and then Clunn the mystic.
Screw B.A.S.S , screw everything about them. If you want to break sh*t
on your boat, go ahead, who cares, it is emotion. 2 fish died in his
livewell. They reviewed tapes, and because of all the negative
publicity Iaconnelli gets, and they (ESPN/B.A.S.S) of course facilitate
and push. If KVD kicked his trolling motor off his boat (don't get me
wrong I love KVD) , being defending champ, they would definitely not
have disqualified him. Iaconnelli is marked, and I guarantee they spin
this even more negatively about him! I hope he comes out and catches
50lbs today and shoves it up their.........explitive deleted.
I am so mad right now, it hurts to see a dream turn into a complete
joke. Good thing there is competition out there all is not lost. All
the media outlets are the same, ESPN didn't have to go this direction,
but it is what sells to the masses. Oh well, I am going to go catch
some steelhead!
