Default First Fly Rod, Reel and line Questions??

You can cast just about as far with a double
taper and have a much better feeling cast. The double taper loads your
rod so it feels good and you want to cast it.

Double taper and weight forward are the same for the first 40 feet or so.
It's after that where the weight forward line lightens up so you don't have
too much weight loading your rod on longer casts. 40 feet of double taper
and 40 feet of weight forward load your rod exactly the same (depending on
where each are tapered.)
