Anyone who enjoys John McPhee and wants to know all about shad will enjoy
his book- The Founding Fish
Wolfgang you would enjoy the chapter on Cooking Shad---Chop the ends off a
lemon, render it hexapartite

well, joe, if you happen this way, give me a call. it's been too long
since we've shared a meal or a drink or a fishing trip.

and, try a #13 pet brand spoon with yellow feather at the terminal end
rather than a dart. best lure i've found for shad.

mcphee's book was mainly about the white or american shad (alosa
sappidisima or sumthin like that) and not the hickory shad (alosa
mediocris)...the white is supposed to be the better tasting of the two.
