My in-laws just bought a home in Laconia, NH. I know very
little
about the area except it is in the Lakes Region. Can anyone
recommend some good spots (Rivers, Lakes, Ponds, etc.) for
trout
fishing?
Thanks,

It's been many years since I last fished in NH. I recall
fishing the Swift R along the Kangamangus Highway

I fished the Bearcamp R which runs along side of RT 25 and
crosses RT 25 just before the intersection with Rt 16. There is
another, smaller Swift River that was good for native brookies.
It flows along RT 113. My brother and I used to fish the
smaller Swift back in the late 60's and early 70's. There was a
small cabin just off RT 113, where a woman in her 80's used to
live during the summer months. She came up from Boston every
year. She had no electric power and she got her fresh water
from the river using a pump driven by a little gasoline engine.
She was very generous, letting us park in her driveway and then
use the trail to the river that switchbacked down the side of a
steep cliff. She would invite us to her cabin for a snack
after we were done fishing. I remember once catching a small
brookie that had a hook jaw. You can see the Bearcamp and the
Swift on this map

The Saco is another river that we fished. It's near Conway, NH.
