BRENIG FISHING REPORT WEEK ENDING 23.04.06
Fishing Report, Week ending 23/04/06
This past week has seen pleasant warm fishing conditions with variable
wind conditions. The water temperature is 7ºC.
The fishing has been good with the rod average at 5 fish. The average
fish weight is 2lb 5oz. The heaviest fish of the week went to Mr G.
Cusato from Elsmere port who caught an 8lb 9oz rainbow. He caught it off
the bank along Hafod Lom woods.
The Hotspots of the week have been Tower Bay, along Hafod Lom woods and
Nantglyn bank, for boats. The bank hotspots have been Tower Bay, Hafod
Lom woods, Nantglyn bank and between the Visitor Centre and the dam.
Fishing methods have been boobies fished on Di 3 - Di 5 lines. Dabblers
have also been catching on slime lines, and the occasional fish has been
caught on dries.
Along with the normal stocking of fish we are putting in around 200
hundred big rainbows ranging from 4lb to 8lb.
With the first Foxon's Trout League match taking place on Sunday it is
advisable to book a boat in advance to avoid disappointment.
We are starting to take bookings for the Pike week starting from the 1st
of May. The pike week starts from the 30th October to the 3rd of
November. If you would like to book a boat please call the Brenig Office
on 01490 420463. Payments should be made in full to reserve a boat.
This is the second year for us to hold a pike fishing event. Last year
59 pike were caught on the first day with the heaviest being 20lb 6oz.
