It was a real pleasure having you join us at both weigh-ins, John. I enjoyed
chatting with you and getting to know a little about you and your family.
You've been truly blessed.
On the soft plastics... you're welcome. To those who are given much, much is
expected. Those lures were given to me freely, and I was happy to share them
with the ROFB folks at Barkley. I understand some of the guys used them to
good advantage in the tournaments; I know they helped me a lot when I fished
them on day 1. I think Tim and Randy used them, too.
Let me know how you like those Secret Weapons. Justin was getting his lure
clobbered at night, and Steve and Rob caught their fish on them Day 1, but I
was having a lot more success with slow-moving soft plastics so spinnerbaits
didn't contribute to my livewell this trip. We're coming into the peak
spinnerbait and buzzbait months now, so I'm sort of puzzled as to why the
fish weren't actively chasing them.
You mentioned running up and fishing with Steve in northern Wisconsin this
summer. Whatever it takes, do it! Boom and Mohawksin lakes are unlike our
southern impoundments, and they're wonderful fishing. You'll definitely
enjoy fishing with Steve, too. I look forward to returning to Rhinelander
around Labor Day for ROFB's Northwoods Classic. We'd love to have you there.
If you want to, hitch a ride with any of the ones of us who will be passing
near your home on the way north.

I was able to get down to the MTC for a couple hours each day,
in-between work commitments. What a great group! Now I can put
faces...and some personalities with names. It was fun to watch Steve's
eyes light up when we talked about his new boat...but he probably has
cut his time on the water down considerably...I figure he will spend at
least an hour at launch, and another hour trailering out, just answering
questions about his "Fast Cat"!

. I wanna thank Joe for all the baits
he sent me home with, and I can't wait to try the "Secret Weapons" out
west in a few weeks. I guess what impressed me the most was how so many
guys traveled from all around the country, to just get together and have
some fun...and they caught some nice fish on top of the "having fun"
part too

.
I consider myself lucky that I stumbled into ROFB a few years back!
