Probably not but who cares? It is lots of fun and very, very
effective.
Bob talked about his wise dad then he says:
I was reading something recently and thining that it would be a good
way to get a little more distance dead sticking a small minnow. (then
again maybe not. That minnow would sure get dried out swinging
through the air. LOL.
And, it you substituted one of your little plastic minnows for the live
one, you're back to pure fly fishing.
Fishing with bait isn't fly fishing, it's bait fishing. Fishing
with plastic minnows isn't fly fishing, it's lure fishing.
Fishing with fur and feathers tied to a hook, *that's* fly fishing.
Not that there's anything wrong with using a fly rod to fish any
legal way you want to fish, but fly rod notwithstanding if you
ain't fishing with a fly you ain't fly fishing.
In my ain't never been humble opinion, of course. ;-)
Yeah, whatever... from the guy with a bobber on his fly line. Oh, wait
you hoity toity fly guys call that a strike indicator. LOL. :^)
You're mistaken, Bob. I am definitely not the guy with a
bobber on his fly line. I used a strike indicator exactly
once in my life on the San Juan in New Mexico because the
guide didn't know how to fish any other way. I had to take
a hot shower afterwards to wash off the shame. ;-)
