Just a quick one..

Spent the morning fishing the fly stretch at Green Lane Park on the
Perkiomen. Water was real low, but success regardless. Caught many
streambred browns (none over 12 inches, most 6-8 inches) on wet flies for a
bit. Switched to a streamer and got into a couple of Perkiomen Steelhead.
Only landed one, around 18 inches, but that one made the weekend.

After taking a siesta and gassing up, I wandered up a new stretch for the
late afternoon/evening hatch and was not disappointed. Have never seen such
great hatches on the Perkie, lots of different types of bugs, many midges,
several mayflies in wide varying sizes including Hendricksons, baetis of
several varieties, the almighty sulphur (huge ones too, Penn's creek size),
and some what looked to be large White Cahill. Very strange mix of
spring/early summer bugs, but at the end of the night had a quite a nice
mix of spinners for all the varieties above along with tons of emerging
sulphurs.

Even though there was a heavy population a PA raised rainbows, and they all
came up throughout the afternoon and evening it was quite a challenge to
figure out what they were taking. They were keying on one of the miniscule
midges which I never figured out despite trying at least 15 different
flavors. Thinking they were taking a size 26 red spinner which I saw
frequently float by (and no match in my box). Eventually the evening hatch
saved my ego, with three sulphur infatuated fish. Will be returning over
the next couple of weeks to catch the sulphur spinner falls yet to come.

I suspect similar hatches occurring throughout the state since we have had
practically no rain and the water is heating up quickly.
