Poll: What lures do you use, where, and for what fish
I think it's always nice to exchange ideas about fishing. And from
fishing in different states after 20 years in the military, I've
noticed the same fish will bite on different things in different places
(fresh and sal****er). So, just to share ideas, the poll is this:
Where do you fish (mainly the state you fish/live in), what do you fish
for and with what lures/baits?
I'll start: Southeast Michigan, Lower Peninsula.
Fish for: Bass, walleye, pike, perch, catfish (although you don't want
to eat them here due to the mercury levels).
Lures/baits used: For bass, I swear by Strike King Mini King with the
red bleeder hooks and white/red skirts. For walleye, Storm Hot and
Tots. For pike, any bright colored Rapala. For catfish, minnows seem to
do best here. I haven't had much luck with livers or doughbaits. For
perch, minnows, white bucktail jigs and and waxworms (white grubs).
When I was in the military, I spent most of my years near the Atlantic
Ocean. One lure that worked great for sea trout, sand perch and
flounder works great for smallmouth in freshwater too. It's a double
white bucktail. One 1/2 oz white bucktail jig on 12" leader and and 1/4
oz white bucktail on a 24" leader (monofilament). Just a suggestion.
Thanks,
Pup
