Yes, fishing without a license where one is required is within the
technical definition of poaching. However, because there is no
intention to take any fish, it is not theft. It is in the same
category as a non-injurious trespass -- lke cutting across private
property to save time.

If you think such conduct is immoral, then you are wrong on the law --
and possibly retarded. It may be unlawful, but not all unlawful
conduct is immoral. Other examples of unlawful conduct that is not
immoral are speeding, drinking beer in a public park, and discharging
a firearm close to a public road.

Abusive language is not unlawful. However, calling a person a thief
who is not a thief is actionable defamation -- and immoral. A slam
dunk, by the way.

One of these days, one of you ****heads will go too far and find
himself at the wrong end of a very expensive lawsuit from which even
bankruptcy can provide no relief.

Since most state game departments factor in economic losses for poaching
offenses where game is killed, and there is an economic loss to the state
F&G from participating in an activity that is licensed by the state, I don't
think the word "Thief" is out of line, it sounds like an apt description,
(in my opinion).

Your posts bring to mind an incident from my youth when I was running a fly
shop in a rocky mountain state famous for its fly fishing and bars.

Yvon Chouinard (of Patagonia fame, etc...) walked through the door and
requested a non-resident fishing license, as I was preparing it (with a pen,
in those analog days), to make small talk I asked what rivers he was
thinking of fishing.

He replied "oh, I don't have time to fish this trip, I just always buy a
license in every state I stop in, as the money goes to conversation
purposes."

Quite a different way of looking at things then the selfish blather you've
been spewing.
