The place is not as felicitous as its name. It has a casino these
days.....before that it was just another not particularly wide spot in
the road.
Watersmeet got its name because of the three different
headwaters that flow from it. The Ontonogan watershed
drains to the north into Lake Superior, the Paint River
watershed drains east into Lake Michigan and the Wisconsin
River watershed drains to the south from its headwaters at
Lac Vieux Desert into the Mississippi. The casino is owned
by the Lac Vieux Desert Tribe. The place may not look like
much but geographically it lives up to its name.
Not to mention the four Michigan Blue Ribbon Trout Streams
within a 30 minute drive.
