Default trolling motor question

I have a 3rd season Minnkota 55AT that seems to have lost a fair percentage
of its thrust. Is it a common occurence for them
to lose power? Can a dealer test them in some way?
Thanks,
Bill

Is it the trolling motor or is it the battery? Have you taken the prop off
and looked underneath to see if there's fishing line wrapped around the prop
shaft? What is the condition of the prop itself? How about the wires
leading from the battery to the trolling motor? Too often, boat
manufacturers put light gauge wire in for the trolling motor. The wires
will heat up under load and lose efficiency.

I don't believe that dealers can test them, but you might check your area
for an authorized repair center. MinnKota's website has a listing of repair
centers.
