I was out hiking yesterday just west of Mt Adams (Washington State).
I find myself walking through a dense huckleberry thicket with beargrass
every other step. Normally I wouldn't think anything of it, but thanks
to the discussion in ROFF I freak myself out enough to start into a
chorus of "Hey Bear" while walking through the thicket.

I've run into black bears a couple times. It's always been the blur of
a black/brown rump heading off at high speed.

Just don't start up on cougars next. :-)
