LLYN BRENIG FISHING REPORT WEEK ENDING July 2nd 2006
LLYN BRENIG FISHING REPORT WEEK ENDING July 2nd 2006
The weather at the Brenig has been very warm in the last week, with very
little wind, especially in the evenings, with a water temperature of 18
C.
This has led to very little advantage for boat anglers, over those on
the banks, with good hatches in the evenings combining with the light
winds to bring good rises, especially in Tower Bay, Sailing Club and
Brenig Arm. Other good spots have been North End from the bank, and
Hafod Lom for boats.
There were complaints from some of the boat anglers as to the language
being used by a minority of Bank anglers. However this was found to be
down to two infamous fisherman, (one who is a well known Southern float
fisherman and the other a cantankerous old Midlander from the Potteries
who seems to have a penchant for chatting up all the "youngish" ladies
staying in his accommodation.)
The average catch return for the week was 3.0 fish with an average
weight of 3 lb 2 oz per fish, (apart from Boat 39 which had zero). Best
bag went to John Rogers, with 6 fish for 21lbs, this bag also included
the best fish of the week, a 7lb rainbow, all were caught on a pink
booby. (PLEASE NOTE that boat 39 does not even know what a booby is!)
Patterns have been varied, with full bags falling to brown sedges, dry
flies, pink and black boobies and many others, depending on time of day
and prevailing conditions.
The AIRFLO/DCWW Open Pairs Competition is held on the 16th September
this year, however the closing date for entries is the 1st August - less
than 4 weeks away. Some places are still available, with a first prize
of £500. Bookings can be made through the Ranger's Office on 01490
420463.
