It's where you actually see the fish and cast lures (usually soft
plastics) to it. This usually happens in the spring during spawning
season, but it can happen under the right conditions almost any time of
year.

I happen to get a real kick out of sight fishing in little crystal clear
back water channels. Have to have good polarized glasses to do it because
usually the fish will spook from the boat at a long distance.

I've discovered that they will often clobber a bait that is jerked away from
them while they are still swimming towards it to investigate. In fact thats
a great technique to try on those fish that swim up to a bait and then turna
away at the last second. You can almsot always start catching them if you
jerk the bait away from them while they are still swimming towards it.
