Wolfgang:

The following questions are not to be answered publically.

Hard to tell whether this is prognostication or instruction. In either
case, I suspect you're going to be disappointed in the result.

They are presented for you to evauate in private.

And you may do as you please with the response, in public, in private,
wherever, however, and whenever.

Are you heterosexual?

This is one of those instances in which the question is infinitely more
interesting than the distressingly prosaic answer. Yes, I am.

See what I mean?

As a matter of fact (and this is purely an observation on my own case.....I
don't profess to speak for anyone else here) I typically find questions more
interesting than answers, and this is not entirely due to the fact that the
answers (as is so readily apparent here in ROFF) are generally wrong in so
many ways on so many levels.

For example, it is going to be fun to speculate on what prompted your
question......so many possibilities come to mind. On the other hand, posing
the question to you would doubtless result in a bull****
answer.....assuming, of course, that any sort of answer at all was
forthcoming. In any case, the exercise will be much more enlightening than
any response from you is likely to be.

Do you or will ever have children?

Tough one to answer with any certainty. I assume that I have never fathered
a child, based on the admittedly inconclusive evidence that I've never been
informed of the existence of any offspring. It is highly unlikely (though
not impossible, if the efficacy of certain surgical procedures are to be
given any credence) that I will sire any offspring in the foreseeable
future. Of course, adoption also remains a possibility, but I wouldn't hold
my breath on that one either.

Think about how you will feel when your children visit
Google groups 10 years from now, and discover their father's
odd obsession: a man who posts 10 times a day, often during
working hours, to a newsgroup that regards him as,
at the very least "slightly deranged," and where those
posts mostly involve irrelevant, non-constructive insult
exchanges.

Well, as a real world exercise this would appear to be mooted by my answer
to the previous question but it seems to me worth exploring,
nevertheless......especially the part about my obsession, which I'll get
back to momentarily.

Frankly, I can't think of a single reason for anyone to be concerned about
his or her children discovering, ten years after the fact......or at any
other time, for that matter......that he or she is adamantly and actively
opposed to willful ignorance, intellectual dishonestly, racism, bigotry,
misogyny, misanthropy, mass murder, arbitrary physical violence,
disinformation, wholesale contempt, and interminable attempts (however
impotent) at self-aggrandizement. Quite the contrary, it seems to me that
it would be a legitimate source of pride......for those inclined to indulge
in that sort of thing.

Nobody here thinks that I am deranged.....not even slightly. Your
suggestion that some do (and, more particularly, the clear implication that
YOU think so) is nothing more than an irrelevant and non-constructive (not
to mention pathetic) attempt at an insult.

My turn to ask a question. What do you think is the primary requisite for
ANY sort of exchange to occur?

Do even fish?

I do. Not as much as I'd like to, but this is an inevitable consequence of
living in a major metropolitan center in this part of the U.S.; there simply
aren't as many opportunities for the type of fishing that I enjoy. Lest
there be any mistake, let me hasten to point out that this is not a
complaint.....there is an up side to the equation. Living where I do allows
me (in addition to other benefits, like easy access to specialty food
markets and good hardware stores) to indulge my obsession. There are simply
more good libraries and, especially, bookstores here than there are in the
areas in which I do most of my fishing. I had several years in which to
indulge the fishing Jones to my heart's content at the cost of other
pursuits. For the moment, I am content with the pendulum's swing.

Do you like to fish?

Well, it would be pretty ****ing silly for me to do it if I didn't like, now
wouldn't it?

Do you like getting your ass slapped into the dirt?

Why not move over to reading alt.flame?

Because I'm not in the least interested in doing so.

Or why not get interested in fly fishing,

You don't read very well, do you?

and talk about that instead?

Well, in this thread that would be irrelevant and non-constructive, wouldn't
it?
