George Gehrke was a frequent poster here until he died about three or four
years ago. To put it lightly, he was argumentative, and some of his less
noble qualities often shined through in some of his roff posts, and posts
to other groups as well. Shortly before his death, he went to one of the
Western Claves and made his peace amongst many of the regulars here.

I stopped using Gink for a season or three simply because I didn't want to
support his endeavors... but nothing worked quite so well for me. Shortly
after his death, I was having a miserable trip in the Catskills, at least
from the point of view of whether I was catching fish or not (I wasn't). I
tossed the POS floatant I had been using, and bought me some Gink. I
allowed this to happen partly because he made his peace with some, and
because I had no reason not to support his wife's endeavors, as she is, by
many accounts, a lovely person.

The first fish I caught after this was an irascible old brown with a big
scar down his side. I thought of George. The rest of the trip, I caught
plenty.

Interestingly enough, Gink.com is still up, and still offering Bamboo fly
rods, (though "*******" doesn't appear anyplace)
