Power loading / Winnebago County
Well shoot - those blow out holes at the ends of the ramps here in
Georgia are great places to catch bass and flatheads!

Rich,
I do appreciate it, but loading the boat by hand isn't a "major"
problem. I can do it, I just use power loading as a convenience. I
really would like to know where my money is going now. If it goes to
pay someone to put the buoys out on the lake I will volunteer a weekend
and do it myself. Personally , if they raised the price to $50 annually
for the County launches I would pay it , if that is what it would take
to create a launch that could handle power loading.
My biggest problem with the whole situation was it wasn't put to council
at all. This as you know is a huge Walleye lake in Wisconsin, therefore
draws Big Heavy Walleye boats. That would have never passed the
public vote. This was somehow slipped between a proposal for a $500
stapler and a $50 pencil. I thought we vote for things here, maybe
debate it. Maybe they have a great reason for doing it, maybe we are
actually destroying the launches. I don't know that, none of my friends
that frequent Winnebago knows that, and nobody I talk to that lives in
this state knows that. I can tell you this, not one single person I
saw at the launches was happy about it. I talked to as many of them as
I could as they came in, and every single one of them ignored the sign
and power loaded, as did I. I don't agree with it, but that doesn't
mean a whole lot, they will still write me a ticket if they see me do it.
I guess I am just going to push it as far as I can with the state. I
appreciate the input though.

"No power loading" has been standard at Lake Geneva and Lake Delavan ( and
lots of other lakes in Southern Wisconsin) for years.
Suggestion..
Buy an extendable boat hook/rod and it will make it easier. Also I have
some tricks for loading/off-loading single-handed, if you want. RG
