For those who might be interested in a more scholarly discertation on the
C&R issue, I would offer up the sugestion to read "With Respect for
Nature-Living as Part of the Natural World" by J. Claude Evans. The book is
published by the State University of New York Press as part of their series
in Environmental Philosophy and Ethics.
Particularly Part V - The Ethics of Catch and Release Fishing.
For a philosophy professor, he writes in such a manner that an accountant
can understand it.
It's a bit pricey in hardcover but the softcover version is $23.95 from

I'm going to reply again. Just trotted upstairs and snagged (er, sorry)
this one off the shelf. Interesting that the small line drawing
illustration at the head of each chapter is a nice and sharp looking salmon
fly!
It does indeed look like a good read, Wayne. Thanks for the, er, pointer.

(sorry to say it has end notes, Wolfgang :-)
