Default Spinning reel for bass

Stradic is, no doubt, a better reel than Shimano's Sahara. I've used
Steve's
Stradic, and I liked them, but I couldn't tell any difference between that
and the same size Sahara, which is just a little more than half the cost.
My
experience is the more they cost, the faster they sink when I lose my grip
on a wet, cold day, or when I open a rod locker an plunk a rod and reel
over
the side.

Many great reels out there today... worlds better than twenty or thirty
years ago for the same price, considering inflation. Probably more
important
than the brand is the size. I wouldn't go bigger than the 2500 Shimano. A
couple reels from different manufacturers I have in the 3000 range feel
too
big.

I wholeheartedly agree Joe. The Stradic is a great reel, and I own two, but
I also own 5 or 6 Sahara reels. While I haven't compared sink rates, I do
know that the 2500 is definitely the largest reel I'd use for bass fishing.
