Why not just go to your local "Tackle Shop"

hey yall... i've only been fishing a few times, but i find it very

relaxing

and want to get into it more this summer. the problem is i know almost
nothing about fishing...licenses, poles, lines, tackle, etc. etc. i'm
clueless, other than i know i enjoy it. ANY information or website

that

you have in mind would be extremely helpful. thanks in advance.

Try a few tackle shops and try to go during a slow part of the day. The
few tackle shops I know, are great places to get what you want, if they
carry it, but are not great places for advice. The staff are just too
busy to spend any quality time getting to know you. Not only that, but
they tend to give canned answers.

Try a few during their slow periods and you'll probably find someone
that enjoys taking the time to help beginners get started and knows what
they are talking about.

Other than that, try to find out if there are any fishing clubs in your
area and join up; if the club is worth the paper it's name is printed
on, you're sure to find fishing buddies that would be happy to get you
through the basics.
